About Us


Background

MSTC Limited is a Mini Ratna Category-I PSU under the administrative control of the Ministry of Steel, Government of India. The company was founded on 9th September 1964 to act as a regulating authority for export of ferrous scrap. Government of India has 89.85% share holding in the company. It was a canalizing agency for import of ferrous scrap and old ships for breaking till 1992. 

Activities

Trading:

  • After de-canalization, MSTC established itself as a major player in trading bulk raw material for various industries while carrying out physical auctions for domestic material.


e-Commerce:

  • MSTC is making rapid strides in the e-commerce sector in line with the new Government Policy for promoting e-Governance in all sectors of economy. 

  • MSTC has emerged as a major player in the country for promoting e-commerce. Its e-Auction portal namely, www.mstcecommerce.com has become an immensely popular tool for transacting business over the internet in a most transparent and fair manner. The portal provides a virtual marketplace for sellers and buyers to do business in metal scrap (ferrous/non-ferrous), surplus stores, plant and machineries, obsolete spares, vehicles, minerals, forest and agro products, immovable assets etc.

  • MSTC has developed an e-Procurement portal which can be customized to cater to the needs of the client. It has carved a niche for itself in providing customised digital solutions

  • It has emerged as an e-commerce giant in B2B and B2C sector and has the distinction of being only such company in public sector.

Marketing Division
  • The Marketing Division looks after the bulk procurement of industrial raw materials for its Principals. The sourcing is done either from foreign manufacturers / traders or from domestic producers.

  • The list of items that are procured includes HMS, HR Coil, Billets, Wire Rods, LAM Coke, Coking coal, Naphtha, Crude oil, Thermal coal etc. which are mainly consumed by the steel, petroleum and power industries in the country.

Recycling

  • MSTC facilitates in recycling of scrap for industrial use in terms of raw materials and thereby reduce input cost, conserve energy & natural resources and ultimately protects the environment.


New Initiatives
  • The new initiatives by MSTC reflect strong confidence and deep commitment to investments in various new ventures, as well as its ability to develop constructive partnerships with national, international, regional and local authorities.

E-RaKAM

  • MSTC has developed a unique eco-system bringing aggregators, logistic providers, warehousing companies under one umbrella for commercial activities of the agri-forest produce to PAN India buyers through its e-commerce portal.

Recycling

  • MSTC has formed a Joint Venture to set up an Auto Shredding Plant for supply of Shredded Scrap to various secondary steel industries in India.

MSTC Metal Mandi (M3)

  • MSTC has launched and e-shopping mall, MSTC Metal Mandi “M3”, which is a virtual market place for B2B and B2C for sale and purchase of iron steel and Non-Ferrous products especially for small and medium sector manufacturers.


  • Financial Results
  • The company made Profit before tax of Rs 96.61 Crores during Financial Year 2016-17.


Reward to the shareholder

  • MSTC has liberally issued bonus share to its shareholders at the rate of 1:1 in 1992-93, 3:1 in 2011-2012, 1:1 in 2015-16 and again 1:1 in 2016-17, raising the paid up capital to Rs 35.20 Crore.

  • MSTC has been rates as “ Very Good” and “Excellent” in the last five fiscal.


Subsidiary Company - Ferro Scrap Nigam Limited (FSNL) was formed as a Joint Venture company in 1979. During 2002-03 FSNL become 100% subsidiary of MSTC. FSNL is mainly engaged in recovery of Ferro Scrap and reclaiming ferrous metallics from slag muck and debris arising out of iron & steel making in Steel plants.

Joint Venture Company – MSTC formed joint venture company M/s Mahindra MSTC Recycling Pvt Ltd to set up first Auto Shredding plant in India for recycling End of Life Vehicles( ELVs) and other white goods by converting these into shredded scrap which is a vital raw material of secondary steel plant. As a first step collection and dismantling centre is being set up at Greater Noida with State of Art Technology with environmentally sound management principles.
